Well here it is… the long awaited 16th episode of Betcast. It’s my first recording of 2015 and I know you think I’m probably biased but in my opinion it’s probably the best show to date. It’s all about the Betfair Trading Community but there are some absolute pearls in there from Martin Futter about trading and trading strategy as well.

Betcast Podcast – Listen Here

Martin got interested in trading sports thanks to his dad who is now also a professional Betfair trader. Although he’s the first to admit that his dad didn’t teach him much in the beginning I think it’s clear when you hear the show that he might have provided a helping hand along the way.

After we talk about Martin and his trading background we move on to discuss trading strategy. There’s some really interesting stuff about cricket trading and we talk about a game Martin traded profitably this morning and the exact strategy he used and why. We also talk tennis trading and move on to disscuss how the guys in the BTC (Betfair Trading Community) are still using the lay the draw system and making it pay for them.

Martin shares more about trading systems and strategies that you can action than any other guest I’ve had on the show – as you can imagine it makes for a great listen.

We round up the show by discussing the BTC and what it offers its members. How to join, how much it costs and who to email with any questions. I do ask some tough questions about sharing profitable trading secrets in this segment of the show that Martin answers honestly and in a very genuine manner.

You Will Hear About:

– Who Martin Futter is and how he got into trading.
– The exact strategy he used to trade the Australia v India Cricket World Cup semi-final with this morning.
– How Martin approaches tennis trading and what kind of trades he’s looking out for.
– How to use the LTD football strategy profitably and what games to look out for.
– Who and what the Betfair Trading Community are.
– How to get in touch if you have any questions.

Welcome to episode 15 of Betcast which pretty much marks the countdown to Christmas… there you go I said it, I know you didn’t want to hear it but it’s time to face reality folks. This week’s show is all about what it’s like to be a sports tipster posting your betting tips online. I’m joined by my good friend Dan to talk about the kind of feedback he gets from his followers and just too generally chat about being a tipster.

Betcast Podcast – Listen Here

Dan is originally from Scotland but he now lives in Canada. He claims to have an accent which reflects both places but all I hear is the Scottish in him. We kick the show off with him telling us about his history in sports gambling and how he applied what he learned as a winning poker player to sports betting. In the early part of the show we also talk about his website and how his early Premier League and NFL season tips have been working out.

Following the intro we move on to discuss his daily routine and how much time and effort goes into all the tips and the write ups as well. We also touch on which are his strongest sports when it comes to betting and I ask him a couple of question about some seriously impressive golf bets he’s published over the last few weeks.

The real meaty bit of the show comes next when we talk about how people respond to his tips and the kind of emails he gets from punters who have been following his advice. There’s some hilarious stuff in this section of the show and it’s not to be missed. Especially the response of one punter who perhaps got a little over excited after a 10 game winning streak. I won’t ruin the surprise here but needless to say it was quite a reaction! Dan also tells us about the flip side of this situation when his tips don’t come in and the kind of emails he gets when that happens. I think this section will surprise a few and is well worth a listen.

We finish up by talking about the best and worst aspects of publishing your own tips online and Dan gives some advice to anyone thinking of following suit and putting their tips out there for others to follow.

You Will Hear About:
– What it’s like to be a sports tipster publishing your picks online.
– The kind of emails Dan gets on a daily basis from his followers.
– How long it takes to run a tipping service/website.
– The secrets behind Dan’s successful run on long odds golf tips.
– Where to find and follow Dan’s tips and specifically golf tips which are killing it right now.
– About the best and the worst parts of the job.
– Some strange people and the way they react to Dan’s tips both good and bad.

I told you I’d be back this week with another episode and I’m not one to disappoint so here it is. It’s episode 14 of Betcast and I managed to get Peter Webb from Betangel on the show with me to talk about the evolution of trading software, how it impacts the markets at Betfair and what Peter’s up to right now in his day to day trading life.

Betcast Podcast – Listen Here

To kick off the show we talk a bit about Peter’s trading background including when and how he got into trading and what life was like in the early days of Betfair. We touch briefly on the evolution of his own personal trading and which sports he’s focused on over the years.

Straight after we get to know Peter a bit better we talk about Betangel, the trading software he developed, and cover some history of the product including when the first edition was released, what it was like and what the vision for the platform was originally.

If you don’t know what trading software or Betangel is specially then no worries as in the next part of the episode we talk about exactly what you can do with Betangel and explore some of its best features. Mentioned here is a practice mode you can use to paper trade with the software which is well worth looking at for anyone who wants to check it out.

From there we move on to my favourite part of this episode and talk about the impact of trading software on the markets at Betfair. We talk about the kind of advantages those using software have vs those not using it and discuss whether the use of the software presents any unfair advantage issues. Also covered is the future of trading software, if it’s still profitable to trade the exchanges without using software and how software has changed the trading landscape over time.

Show Notes:

– Introduction to Peter Webb and his trading background.
– Introduction to Betangel and what it’s designed to do.
– Discussion covering impact of trading software.
– Can you still trade profitably without software?
– Is using trading software gaining an unfair advantage.
– Future of trading software.
– Contact info/outro.

Betcast is back this week with a look at the upcoming NFL season. I know it’s a couple of weeks in already but as I’m off to Wembley to see the Raiders v Dolphins game at the weekend I couldn’t resist doing an episode on the upcoming season.

On the show, which is now episode 13, I’m joined by Sean T Green from the Sports Gambling Podcast. He’s a California resident, Eagles fan, and got out of bed super early to record the show with me to compensate for the time difference between there and the UK. He’s also burning it up with his picks so far and with a 27-5 record so he knows what he’s talking about.

Betcast Podcast – Listen Here

The show kicks off with us doing a quick run through of the most popular NFL markets and we also get some of the terminology out of the way before diving right in and taking a look at each division. Sean gives us his predictions for each division and also who’s going to make the Superbowl. There’s some interesting insight which could definitely be used from a trading standpoint to cash in on early season surprises where the division winner markets are concerned.

At the end of the show he also gives out a tip for this weekend’s game at Wembley which I’ve already backed so it better be a good one! As always I hope you enjoy the show guys and if you’ve got any comments then get in touch with me via the about page or hit me up on Twitter where my handle is @bettingmandave.

You Will Hear:

– NFL betting terminology and how it differs from what UK punters might be used to.
– The most popular NFL betting markets and how they work.
– How the NFL is structured from divisions, conferences, playoffs and the Superbowl.
– Sean’s predictions for each division from the AFC and NFC.
– Sean’s predictions for the two teams to make it to the Superbowl and the eventual winner.
– Insight into early season form and how teams will likely react.
– A couple of tips for the Oakland v Miami game this Sunday at Wembley.

This week I’m back again to bring you Betcast episode 12 which takes a look at what it’s like to make the transition from being a professional online poker player to a professional sports trader on Betfair. It’s a particularly interesting topic for me given my background in online poker and on the show I’m joined by former online poker pro Sammy who now trades tennis on Betfair for a living.

Before we did the interview Sammy told me he was worried about his English being a problem on the show. I’m sure you’ll agree, once you’ve listened of course, that his English is pretty darn good… a heck of a lot better than my Swedish (which is totally no existent).

Betcast Podcast – Listen Here

We kick start this show by talking about Sammy and how he got into playing online poker and then quickly move on to talk about why he transitioned into sports trading and how he managed to get off to such a good start in such a small space of time. Sammy managed to hit the first level of premium charge after just 7 months as a pro sports trader on Betfair and has gone from strength to strength ever since.

From there we move on to talk about how winning poker players can adapt to sports trading and some transferable skills. We also take a look at some traits of being a poker player which might hold you back when trading – this section is well worth a listen if you’re thinking of moving across. Variance is also covered in depth in this section of the show as we talk about the difference in variance between sports trading and online poker and how to deal with it.

To round the show up Sammy gives some tips for new sports traders and people thinking of giving trading a go who have a background in online poker. The points he makes about having an edge are golden and even seasoned traders should get plenty from this section of the show. Bankroll management is also covered, as is the role of stats in trading.

You Will Hear:

- A bit of background info about today’s guest.
- How he quickly went from beginners to the first level of premium charge in just 7 months.
- What you should be doing and how much you should be betting once you find your edge.
- About how being a winning poker player can impact on your trading.
- How to approach your bankroll management.
- The role of stats in tennis trading.
- How you can and should be ‘multi-tabling’ trading in the same way as you do poker.

On this weeks episode of Betcast – which is not the 11th I’ve made – I’m joined by Martin Cole from Learning To Trade and we’re taking a look at conventional trading (as opposed to sports trading) from a beginners perspective.

We decided to go down the beginners route because I’m a bit of a newbie when it comes to trading stocks, shares and currency but hopefully some of the concepts discussed will trigger ideas or inspiration for you sports traders out there.

Betcast Podcast – Listen Here

This type of trading sounds seriously profitable, if done correctly, and some of the stories Martin has to tell about what it’s possible to make are pretty baller. He also runs a free course for anyone who is interested in finding out more which is available via his website. All details of this are mentioned in the show and in the resources section below.

The show starts out with Martin telling us about his background in trading and how he managed to get where he is today. It’s an interesting listen and I’m sure plenty of sports traders will be able to relate to his position. It’s a real zero to hero kind of story. Following that we move on to talk about the tools and services you might need to get into currency trading (where Martin’s talents lie) as well as forums and blogs in the industry.

Following the above we move on to talk about some beginner strategy for trading currency markets and talk in depth about an approach which involves learning how to lose to learn how to win. All in all the show makes for a really good listen and although it’s not directly about sports trading there’s plenty of crossover and I think you guys will get something out of it.

What You’ll Hear In Ep11:

Martin Cole and how he got into trading after being bankrupt.
The Learning To Trade website and the free course available.
Trading stocks, shares and currency as opposed to sports markets.
Beginner trading strategy.
How to get in touch with Martin to ask any questions about his course or trading in general.
Success stories from Martin’s time teaching trading but not as you might expect.
A philosophical discussion on why we trade.

It’s been a little while since the last episode of Betcast but I’m pretty sure everyone was busy watching and betting on the World Cup. I’m hoping to release episodes on a more regular basis over the coming months so make sure you follow @bettingmandave on Twitter or bookmark the podcast feed page to keep updated.

In episode 10 of Betcast I’m joined once again by Ryan from Bet Green (you might remember we did a previous episode on how to make money on Betfair) but this time to talk about tennis trading. Ryan has been killing it recently in the tennis markets so I wanted to tap into some of his insider knowledge.

Betcast Podcast – Listen Here

Before we get into talking about tennis on today’s show we briefly discuss the World Cup and how it went for Ryan from a trading perspective… I’m pretty sure all the goals in the group stages will have meant that everyone made a tidy profit this time around.

Following that we move on to talk about the transition from trading football to trading tennis and discuss where to find good tennis stats and info on the web. We also cover some basic things you can do when you start trading tennis to help you become profitable and highlight the importance of knowing the players and how they play when trading matches in-play.

Tennis trading strategy is then discussed in more detail and Ryan explains his handicapping system for tennis markets and how he uses that to determine his trades on a daily basis.

Ryan also shares info about his free tennis trading group on Facebook which I’ll provide a link to below along with his Twitter handle, blog and email address.

This Show Covers:

- How to World Cup went from a trading stand point.
- Resources for new tennis traders for stats and player insight.
- The importance of different player traits when trading tennis.
- Ryan’s approach to tennis trading and his mentality when trading in-play.
- The free Bet Green tennis trading facebook group.

We kick start the show by explaining exactly what risk free betting is to listeners and then go on to discuss Darren’s history and website Bet72 along with all the tools and guides he’s put together for anyone interested in giving risk free betting a shot.

A decent segment of the show is also dedicated to discussing all the best World Cup betting offers for the 2014 tournament and how you can take advantage of them. Plus we’ll tell you where to find an updated list of the best offers around and how to go about getting the best enhanced odds prices that will be available during the tournament.

It’s been a while guys… but Betcast is back with another episode and this time I’ve got Steve Brown from the Goals Profits service on the show with me. We talk football trading, how he started out as a sports trader and loads more, it’s well worth listening to even if I do say so myself.

As mentioned above the show starts out with Steve telling us how he got into trading football plus what he did before and then we talk a bit about how the Goals Profits service started out and how it’s grown over the last couple of years.

The middle section of the show is where the meaty stuff is. We talk about correct score trading and Steve addresses some common complaints about it (time consuming and complex). Plus Steve also tells us about how he is still turning a profit with a lay the draw strategy which is available to Goals Profits members.

Finally we talk about the bespoke statistics section Steve has set up for members at Goal Profits and about the chat-room which members use to discuss traders and new systems/strategies. We also cover the World Cup briefly and what Steve will be up to during the tournament.
