Jamie Benson is a sometimes PR man and man behind Tote Fantasy. He’s also the man punters have to beat with the Tote’s ‘Beat Benson’ promotion, where if you beat him, you cop, so it’s a high pressure job, but he’s up so far. In this interview Jamie talks about the public school, university role into the City at age 21. His real love, ingrained by his Father and famous in racing Grandfather is the horses for which he has a passion and went on to make his career.
Jamie recalls how his Grandfather is often remembered with a wink and a nudge and how his mum thinks he shares some characteristics. Jamie talks about his Dad suffered from a gambling problem, going to Gamblers Anonymous with him and having seen the harm it can do first hand. He talks about how he now feels uniquely placed to be a positive force for change. Jamie concludes talking about his ‘baby’ Tote Fantasy and how he has found the passion he was always looking for in the city, in racing.
