Mark Holder started winning backing horses in his teens. Gambling was in his blood, his Grandfather enjoyed a punt, though not always successfully, his father Richard was a succesful trainer, with a Triumph Hurdle success in 1989 and providing now champion trainer Paul Nicholls with his first winning ride as a jockey. Despite the family success it was a punter that convinced Mark the money was in training but betting. Form study soon became a passion for Mark who as a teenager kept his head in form books for hours on end. He concludes part one talking about the value of inside information and talks about lessons in punting.
