#BettingPeople Interview SIMON ROWLANDS Racing Analyst & Journalist 4/4
Simon Rowlands is a sectional timing expert whose work can be seen on Sky Sports Racing, Timeform and in the Irish Field. Rowlands, who worked for years to make accurate sectional timings and course distances a priority in racing, previously worked full time at Timeform – setting up the very popular Betfair/Timeform Radio – was the Racing Editor at The Sportsman and chaired the Horseracing Betting Forum and a Handicapping Appeals Panel. A fan of handicapping from an early age, he worked in shop for William Hill, managing one of London’s busiest shops at the age of 21. Now a freelance writer, he still writes regularly on top class racing and has his own company, Rowlands Racing And Research Limited.
In the final part, Simon discusses the new technology of striding data, discusses how racing could make information more accessible to fans, thinks about what changes he’d make to racing, and tells us what he has planned for the future.
