Cheltenham is one of my favourite weeks of the year and is usually one of the highlights of the Betfair trading, betting and sporting year.

I’m looking forward to the Cheltenham Festival, but a shadow has cast over it this year and threatens other sports events. We could be about to have tough times ahead.

As we are so close to Cheltenham, I’m backing it to go ahead and really hope it does because of the significance of the event and all the efforts and preparations that must have gone ahead to this stage. It would really be a blow to the jumps racing folk who have put so much effort into the season’s pinnacle meeting.

But therein lies opportunity. With limited time for the event to be cancelled, barring an unfortunate rise in case, it seemed like trading the ‘To go ahead’ Betfair exchange market was a good move.

So here are my thoughts on that and some summaries on the Cheltenham meeting.

If it can overcome all the other problems, let’s hope the weather doesn’t throw a spanner in the works.
